The materials used in my work are nearly all of reclaimed materials. It is more than the cost of wood these days. I have been using reclaimed wood for years. One of my first projects in jr. high woodshop class was a gavel and base. I used a fallen walnut tree limb for the materials.
Years later, after coll

ege, family, and children, I began getting involved in woodworking again. My sister-in-law was going to burn a pile of wood. She & her husband didn't know what it was, but it needed to be gone. I looked at the pile. It was all rough-sawn, 6/4 walnut. I came back several times to retrieve the tr
easure.
Fast forward, I still have some of that walnut. My kids (and grand
s) tease me of all the projects are made of walnut. I now have added pianos to my reclaimed materials list. I have also added some aged barn wood. Mostly I work with pianos. All of these tidbits have something in common with my life.
Each of the types of materials was destined to be thrown away, burned or just left to rot. My life too was on a path of destruction. I had rot in my soul (sin). I was reclaimed by the Lord Jesus. He took my life and made it new and gave it purpose. By his grace, I have had the bad, the rot removed from my life. My life has become a gift for others and to the Father in Heaven. I am no longer my own, I am His workmanship, created to do good works for His sake.
The pianos are costly at first for many families. Some pianos i have used are 80 to 110 years old. All destined for burning or landfill. Unwanted, until someone wanted them for a greater ca

use. The metal in the piano also gets to be recycled and used. The projects that they become get a new
finish put on them. Uniquely, they become a centerpiece or conversation piece of their new home.
I have much in common with the materials I use. Christ died for all to reclaim all that was & is lost. Without his reclaiming of us, we would be destined for destruction. If you would like to know more of what it is like to be reclaimed by Christ, send me a message. We can talk about it.
